Ladies’ Auxiliary Section at the Sts. Cyril and Methody Cathedral has always worked closely with the Church Committee. One of its main tasks is the visits and distribution of relief funds from the Church to the poor, old, sick, needy, orphans, etc. not only for Christmas but during the whole year. As the tradition goes, every Autumn under the patronage of the Ladies Auxiliary the Church organizes a bazaar. With personal efforts and mastery the ladies prepare and present various goods and food and the proceeds from sales go to the Church.
The Ladies’ Auxiliary organizes many events, celebrations and personal commemorations, e.g. Birthdays, Name-days, anniversaries, weddings, etc.
The care for the orderliness and up keeping of the Church library is also the responsibility of the Ladies Auxiliery. The indexing of the books, predominantly in Bulgarian, and less in English, sorting them in cabinets according to contents and authors, is the work of Ms. Olga Saleff.
Most of the articles published in the monthly Church newsletter are supplied by members of this Church organization.
And, finally, the basic principle followed by the Ladies’s Auxiliary in its work is the advice of Paul the Apostle.:
“But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction, and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Live in peace with one another. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.“ (5:12-13, 23,28) Amen
